Where to Get Married in South East Queensland

Bjorn Schmal • March 3, 2023

There's so many options in our little part of the world! You've got beaches, forests, city and country, which type of venue will you choose for your wedding in South East Queensland?

  • Beach wedding: South East Queensland is known for its beautiful beaches, so why not have a beach wedding? There are many great spots to choose from, such as Burleigh Heads, Noosa, or the Gold Coast. Just be sure to check any local regulations and obtain the necessary permits.
  • Garden wedding: If you prefer a more traditional setting, consider a garden wedding. South East Queensland has many beautiful gardens to choose from, such as the Brisbane Botanic Gardens or the Roma Street Parklands. These locations can provide a stunning backdrop for your special day.

  • Winery wedding: If you and your partner are wine lovers, consider a wedding at one of our local wineries. There are several wineries in South East Queensland that offer wedding packages, such as Sirromet Wines or Ocean View Estates. These venues can provide a romantic and intimate setting for your special day.
  • Rustic wedding: If you're looking for a more rustic and relaxed vibe, consider a farm or barn wedding. South East Queensland has many beautiful rural areas, such as the Scenic Rim or the Lockyer Valley, where you can find rustic venues with stunning views. I'm actually based in the Scenic Rim on Tamborine Mountain, so I can recommend some of my favourite mountain locations!
  • City wedding: If you prefer the hustle and bustle of the city, South East Queensland has several great locations for a city wedding. Consider venues such as the Brisbane City Hall or the Customs House, which offer stunning views of the city skyline, or Q1 hotel at the Gold Coast.

As a wedding photographer based in South East Queensland, I've had the privilege of capturing weddings in some of the region's most stunning locations, from the lush hinterland to the beautiful beaches and vibrant city venues. One of my favourite things to photograph is the beautiful floral arrangements that couples select to complement their big day. Flowers add so much personality and charm to your wedding day, and when you choose blooms that are in season, they’ll not only look fresh but also help create a harmonious connection with the natural beauty of Queensland. Whether you're planning a beachside ceremony on the Gold Coast, a garden wedding in Brisbane, or a mountain retreat in the Scenic Rim, here’s your guide to choosing the right wedding flowers based on the season, and how to work with a florist to create the perfect arrangements within your budget.
