Rainforest Wedding at St Bernards Hotel on Misty Mount Tamborine, Queensland

Organized by the ever-talented Bec Bannings at St Benards Hotel, this wedding was a beautiful blend of tradition, creativity, and heartfelt emotion. Kristen and Mitch organised their day in a way that worked for them, and made getting the perfect photos stress free! If you're trying to work out how to fit in all the photos you want in your wedding day schedule, consider taking photos before the ceremony- especially as the days get shorter now that it's winter in South East Queensland!

The First Look

The day began with a first look, a private and intimate moment where Kristen and Mitch saw each other for the first time before the ceremony. The excitement was palpable, and the raw emotion I captured during this session was simply magical. Mitch’s face lit up with pure joy, while Kristen, dressed in a stunning green wedding dress, looked like a vision from a fairy tale. The choice of a green dress was a bold and beautiful departure from tradition, reflecting Kristen’s vibrant personality.

Greeting Guests Before the Ceremony

In a refreshing twist, the couple chose to greet their guests before the ceremony. This unconventional approach created a warm and relaxed atmosphere, allowing Kristen and Mitch to personally thank each guest for being part of their special day. It was heartwarming to see the genuine connections and the joy on everyone’s faces as they mingled with the bride and groom.

As the ceremony was about to begin, Kristen and Mitch invited their guests to come forward and take photos with their phones. This moment of collective participation was a wonderful way to make everyone feel included, without interfering with the photographer and my job during the ceremony!

The bridal party was a lively and eclectic group, each member bringing their own unique flair to the celebration. Their energy was infectious, adding a sense of fun and spontaneity to the day. From the colorful outfits to the playful interactions, every moment with the bridal party was a joy to capture. They danced, laughed, and celebrated with an exuberance that was so fun to watch! Check out the father-daughter dance, Kristen's father couldn't wait to get his tie around his forehead to get the party started!

Foggy Tamborine Mountain Chapel Night Photoshoot

One of the most enchanting moments of the day was the night shoot at the chapel. As the evening fog rolled in, it created a dreamlike ambiance that was perfect for some ethereal shots. The chapel, shrouded in mist, looked like something out of a storybook. Kristen and Mitch’s love shone brightly against the foggy backdrop, and the photos from this session are some of my favorites. The soft lighting and the mystical atmosphere made for a truly magical shoot.

As a wedding photographer based in South East Queensland, I've had the privilege of capturing weddings in some of the region's most stunning locations, from the lush hinterland to the beautiful beaches and vibrant city venues. One of my favourite things to photograph is the beautiful floral arrangements that couples select to complement their big day. Flowers add so much personality and charm to your wedding day, and when you choose blooms that are in season, they’ll not only look fresh but also help create a harmonious connection with the natural beauty of Queensland. Whether you're planning a beachside ceremony on the Gold Coast, a garden wedding in Brisbane, or a mountain retreat in the Scenic Rim, here’s your guide to choosing the right wedding flowers based on the season, and how to work with a florist to create the perfect arrangements within your budget.
